Thank you to everyone who attended the ‘Millennials in the Public Service’ report launch yesterday at 3 Brewers in downtown Ottawa!
We had approximately 100 young public servants in attendance as well as Michael Wernick, Clerk of the Privy Council, PIPSC President Debi Daviau, CAPE President Emmanuelle Tremblay and PSAC National Executive Vice-President Chris Aylward.
We presented the findings from the consultations conducted in June 2016, where over 160 young public servants participated in table discussions on 1) entry and advancement 2) rights, benefits and working conditions and 3) official languages and employment equity. The report highlighted the challenges and lessons learned in attracting and retaining millennials in the federal public service and presented a series of recommendations.
We thank everyone who took part in the discussions following the presentation.
This is the first step! Moving forward we will continue to share the report and get the message out. As well, we will continue discussions on how to tackle the issues identified. We look forward to helping build a stronger public service in Canada!
